BMX made its debut as a full medal sport at the Beijing Summer Olympics. BMX has come a long way over the last 30 years - from kids doing tricks on bikes, to earning a place on world sports' most prestigious stage. The United States sent 4 elite BMX racers to compete in the inaugural men's and women's individual racing events, and and won 3 of the 6 medals awarded.
